- Job Details
- Registered Ob/Gyn sonographer performs clinical imaging duties at TCHMS offices under physician or clinical manager supervision.
- Competencies in various OB procedures, performing ultrasound exams per AIUM and ACOG guidelines specializing in Maternal Fetal Medicine.
- Responsibilities include quality patient care, accurate record keeping, equipment care, and other assigned duties.
- Performs imaging and procedural duties of an Obstetric/Gynecological Sonographer.
- Follows testing protocols established by Medical Director and professional standards.
- Produces quality study images and data using imaging and accessory equipment.
- Prepares patients and provides ultrasound guided assistance to physicians during procedures.
- Assesses patient's physical, psychosocial, and educational needs; obtains appropriate history prior to tests.
- Confirms appropriateness of supporting information and documentation for exams.
- Maximizes services, maintains workflow, performs assignments timely, assists others as needed.
- Explains testing procedures to patients, family, and staff as needed.
- Complies with code of conduct, policies, remains Fit for Duty and HIPAA compliant.
- Maintains punctuality and proper attendance.
- Parks in required employee location; no smoking on campus.
- Maintains organized, clean, stocked, and safe work area.
- Works with leadership to efficiently use department resources and staffing.
- Schedules add-on and emergency exams for same day requests with good customer service.
- Maintains knowledge of Information Systems including structured reporting and image archival.
- Maintains accurate and timely order entry and exam tracking in HIS.
- Follows all Infection Control policies and procedures.
- Communicates equipment maintenance needs and operates equipment safely.
- Participates in Peer Review and process improvement activities.
- Engages in department meetings and shares responsibility for agenda.
- Maintains departmental compliance to regulatory expectations.
- Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year experience in high risk or office based OB/GYN ultrasound diagnostics and procedures.
- Ability to perform routine procedures and real time techniques including M-mode, pulse and color Doppler.
- Good grasp of fetal and cross sectional anatomy and medical terminology.
- Ability to perform vital signs: pulse rate, blood pressure (automated and manual), respiration rate, oxygen saturation.
- Skill to provide relevant technical information about exams to interpreting physician.
- Familiarity with PACS and structured reporting systems.
- Customer service and communication skills to interact positively with staff, patients, and physicians.
- Bachelor or Associates Degree in Ultrasound / Allied Health OR Graduate from an Accredited Ultrasound training program.
- 30 CEUs through ARDMS every 3 years.
