Position Overview

The Pediatric Private Duty Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering skilled nursing care in the home in accordance with the physician’s orders and individualized plan of care. This position requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining communication with the clinical team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide skilled nursing care to pediatric patients in the home
  • Monitor patient condition, vital signs, and overall health status
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Perform tracheostomy care, suctioning, and airway management (if applicable)
  • Assist with ventilator care and monitoring (if applicable)
  • Provide G-tube feeding and nutritional support
  • Administer oxygen therapy and monitor respiratory status
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all care provided
  • Follow individualized plan of care and physician orders
  • Communicate effectively with supervising RN, physicians, and family members
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized care environment
  • Provide education and support to family members when appropriate

Required Qualifications

  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in North Carolina
  • Current CPR certification (pediatric preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year nursing experience (pediatric or home care preferred)
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Reliable transportation and punctuality

Preferred Experience

  • Pediatric private duty or home health experience
  • Experience with tracheostomy care, suctioning, and ventilator support
  • Experience with G-tube feeding and medication administration
  • Experience working with medically fragile children
  • Ability to work independently in a home setting
