Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make an immediate impact supporting young learners as a dedicated Special Education professional. Two full-time positions are available for experienced educators passionate about working with elementary students in a moderate to severe (Mod/Severe) classroom, with a primary focus on those with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Based in Oakland, these contract roles span the academic year from August 10, 2026, through May 27, 2027.
Each position supports a K-2 caseload, capped at 10 students, and benefits from two paraprofessionals for additional assistance. The schools foster a collaborative environment, encouraging teamwork and shared expertise. Access to modern instructional resources, including TeachTown and TEACCH materials, empowers educators to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Active California Moderate/Severe Education Specialist credential (required for consideration)
- Proven experience with Mod/Severe, Autism-focused elementary caseloads
- Familiarity with classroom management and differentiation for diverse learners
- Comfort collaborating with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other educators
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Adaptability and resourcefulness within a structured, supportive school setting
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing IEPs tailored to each student's needs
- Designing daily lesson plans using specialized materials and instructional strategies
- Tracking student progress and maintaining detailed records
- Leading a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
- Collaborating regularly with teaching teams, support staff, and families
- Participating in professional development geared toward special education best practices
Pay for these roles ranges from $50 to $60 per hour, depending on experience, degree, and school budget.
