Job Description
The Staff Psychiatrist is responsible for ongoing mental health of all clients. Reporting to the Senior Staff Psychiatrist, the Staff Psychiatrist will interface on a weekly basis to inform of any medication changes, provide appropriate written medical orders and discuss psychiatric concerns or issues regarding clients.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all Success Rehabilitation, Inc. policies and procedures as stated in all company manuals.
- Be familiar with the mission of SRI and work towards assuring that this mission is integrated as part of all job efforts.
- Provide therapy sessions as scheduled to ensure ongoing mental health of all clients.
- Supply written progress notes after each scheduled day. (including those canceled by client or therapist with listing of cause).
- Submit quarterly clinical reports for each client based on outcome measures.
- Communicate as necessary with residential staff, after scheduled therapy sessions, regarding specific client issues.
- Meet with treating psychotherapists to review and monitor therapeutic issues regarding each client.
- When applicable, review charts for appropriateness and anticipated needs for new client referrals/admissions.
- Perform necessary assessments for all new, or newly assigned residents.
- Responsible for prescribing and monitoring medications for specific psychiatric problems and submitting to nursing for ordering. Complete prior authorization requests in a timely manner.
- Review all prescribed medications as needed, to ensure that newly prescribed psychiatric medications will not produce any potentially hazardous interactive effect with other medications ordered by ancillary physicians.
- Order necessary medical tests and monitor results, as needed.
- Provide emergency treatment on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved School of Medicine with Board Certification or eligibility in Psychiatry
- 5+ years' experience with neurologically impaired patients
- License in the state of PA as a MD or DO, specializing in Psychiatry
- Registration Certificate for controlled substances issues by the United State Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration.
