GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Responsible for patient care including performing X-Rays according to State regulations and protocols and communicating with providers, nurses, and staff to ensure continuity of care. This person is responsible for upholding all of their licensing requirements and performing within their scope of practice.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Utilizes X-ray equipment to provide quality images for diagnosis while following all practices of radiation safety. Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding and knowledge of exposure factors.
2. Maintain room and X Ray equipment according to departmental and licensing standards.
3. Completing a comprehensive assessment on patients including patient screening and contraindications through written and oral communication. This includes, but is not limited to renal function, pregnancy status and previous conditions that would limit or prevent the study.
4. Assist with daily and weekly quality assurance phantom studies to be in compliance with ACR.
5. Assist with providing all documents and imaging for renewal of ACR accreditation every 3 years.
6. Position patients correctly, provide diagnostic radiographs/QC.
7. Compliance with HIPAA.
8. Coordinating a busy patient flow while accommodating add-on patient studies throughout the day.
9. Practice teamwork, service and respect for coworkers and patients.
10. Ordering supplies and proper management of resources.
11. Assisting in other departments as needed i.e. fluoroscopy studies and/or CT.
12. Perform all duties in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
13. Follows all State regulations and utilizes ALARA.
14. Troubleshoot equipment issues, calling for repairs.
15. Actively assist in meeting state requirements.
16. Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
17. Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
18. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
19. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
20. Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
21. Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
22. Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
23. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
24. Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; developing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments.
25. Documents of patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
26. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with 2 years experience in radiology procedures.
