The Machine Shop Operator is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in support of manufacturing operations, under the direction of the Machine Shop Supervisor / Manufacturing Manager. This position requires operating equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes, as well as setting up and operating CNC machinery.
To be successful, they must demonstrate safe work habits, be detail oriented, have excellent time management skills, be able to problem solve/troubleshoot independently, and have exceptional attendance. The Machine Shop Operator must be able to perform duties in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency while maintaining excellent internal customer service. They must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions and will work well alone or as part of a team.
Essential Duties:
• Write, understand, and edit CNC programs using M Code and G Code (Haas Mills and Lathes)
• Set up and operate CNC machines
• Perform safety inspections of machines and equipment
• Manufacture machine plates per DIS specifications
• Complete and track NCR (Non-Conformance Reports) as needed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Required Skills, Education, and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 3+ years of machine shop experience, including CNC (Haas) Mills and Lathes
• Technical certifications or coursework preferred
• Minimum of 3 years machining experience (additional 2 years’ experience may substitute for college/technical coursework)
• Proficient in reading blueprints and using precision measuring tools
• Familiar with work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office is a plus
• Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and PPE usage
• Excellent attention to detail and quality control
• Reliable, self-motivated, and organized with strong communication skills

• Keyboarding and operating standard office equipment
• Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus to read instructions, and be aware of surroundings at all times
• Occasionally: responding quickly to sounds or when seeing dangerous situations
• Employees may work in environments that may include exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes, dust, noise, lead, and dryness/humidity and are occasionally exposed to welding fumes, electrical hazards, and UV light
• May be required to walk for long periods of time over a large area
• Occasional prolonged periods wearing personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and steel-toe boots
• Occasionally exposed to contaminants and uncomfortable noise levels within the environment
• Occasionally exposed to hazardous situations and equipment, such as high-speed or high-heat machines, lathes, overhead cranes, and various lift machines
• Occasionally working around forklift traffic and around heavy loads over 1 ton
