Job Description

The HSE Specialist supports site-wide Health, Safety, and Environmental programs to ensure a safe workplace and full regulatory compliance. In this role, you develop and maintain safety systems, conduct audits, support incident investigations, and collaborate closely with employees and leadership to strengthen a proactive safety culture. You work independently with guidance from the HSE Manager and maintain an onsite presence Monday through Friday in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs across the site.
  • Ensure day-to-day compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and occupational health regulations, including OSHA and internal standards.
  • Conduct regular safety and environmental audits and inspections in office, manufacturing, and other facility areas.
  • Track, document, and follow up on audit and inspection findings to ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist with incident and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis, documentation, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Partner with employees and leadership at all levels to promote and strengthen a positive safety culture.
  • Provide and support safety training initiatives, including HSE orientations, refresher trainings, and topic-specific sessions as needed.
  • Maintain accurate HSE documentation and records, including reports, logs, and compliance-related documentation.
  • Monitor and support environmental health and safety compliance activities, including EH&S and HSE initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to identify and mitigate HSE risks.
  • Support multiple facilities as needed, providing consistent HSE guidance and sharing best practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities related to safety systems, processes, and workplace practices.
  • Communicate HSE expectations clearly and effectively, reinforcing plant safety, hygiene, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide input and support to HSE leadership on program enhancements and long-term safety and environmental strategies.

Essential Skills

  • 3–5 years of experience in health and safety roles, preferably within manufacturing, industrial, or similar fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated experience working across multiple facilities or locations.
  • Hands-on experience with safety investigations, including incident and near-miss analysis.
  • Experience conducting safety and environmental audits and inspections, including tracking and documenting findings.
  • Strong knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS/EH&S/HSE) principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting or delivering safety training in a workplace setting.
  • Ability to work independently with guidance from HSE leadership while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with employees and leadership at all levels.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environment, Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a science-related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments; pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred but not required.
  • Exposure to environmental health programs and compliance activities.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Interest in long-term career growth within HSE, with opportunities to advance into higher-level roles.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% to support HSE activities at other locations as needed.

Work Environment

This role operates in both office and manufacturing settings within a fast-paced environment. The position is fully onsite Monday through Friday, generally from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with some flexibility based on business needs. The work is primarily sedentary in an office setting but requires regular movement throughout the facility, including production areas. Personal protective equipment, such as safety shoes, goggles, and hearing protection, is required when working in production or designated zones. Team members must comply with all plant safety, hygiene, and regulatory requirements at all times. Occasional travel of up to 5% may be required to support activities at other sites. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
