The toolmaker is responsible for setting up and operating a wide variety of tool room machines including but not limited to lathes, millers, grinders and tooling such as collets, chucks, assembly fixtures, jaws, drill digs, etc. Must be able to plan, design and construct intricate tools, dies, fixtures, gages to work to and with extremely close tolerances. This individual will also work from engineered drawings, specs or instructions from the supervisor and must be capable of determining the best methods and machines required to manufacture machine tools.
This individual is responsible for maintaining equipment in good working condition and performing regular and preventative maintenance procedures such as, but not limited to replacing lights, various filters, inspection of various equipment such as boilers, furnaces, air conditioning units, etc. Employee must also be able to perform basic plumbing, light welding and general painting as well as simple, routine maintenance on any equipment in the plant. Must keep the work clean and neat and inform the supervisor of any equipment that needs to be repaired or replaced. May also perform experimental work other duties involving basic plumbing or light welding, general painting or other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
