Providing specialized nursing care in a perioperative environment, this role focuses on delivering comprehensive patient-centered care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The position requires adaptability as you will float between departments and local locations within a 20-mile radius, ensuring seamless patient care across varying clinical settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize the nursing process to deliver direct patient care during shifts, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation
- Ensure safe, effective, timely, and equitable care tailored to individual patient needs
- Administer medications and treatments following physician orders or approved protocols while maintaining thorough documentation
- Collaborate closely with patients, families, and healthcare teams to coordinate comprehensive care plans
- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and non-licensed assistive personnel
- Identify and support patient and family learning needs throughout the care episode, including discharge planning
- Complete unit-specific competency testing and education related to patient populations, procedures, and protocols
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Current RN license with experience in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing or equivalent perioperative care
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work flexibly across multiple departments and locations within a 20-mile radius
- Effective communication and teamwork capabilities
- Proficient in documenting patient care and adhering to established protocols
