Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Deliver expert nursing care in a fast-paced Surgical Stepdown unit, supporting post-op and high-acuity patients recovering from complex surgeries. This contract role offers a rewarding opportunity to use your critical thinking and time management skills while working nights in a reputable hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for surgical stepdown patients
- Monitor cardiac drips, manage Bipap therapy, and support trauma and medically complex cases
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Adhere to facility policies, nursing standards, and patient confidentiality requirements
- Float to other departments with equal or lower acuity as needed to support staffing
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active RN license eligible in Missouri or currently licensed in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Stepdown or ICU nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
- Experience with post-op care, cardiac monitoring, and use of critical care equipment
- Strong critical thinking, time management skills, and ability to work well in a team environment

Additional Details:
- Night shifts, 1900-0730, with 36 or 48 guaranteed weekly hours (flexible schedules considered)
- Weekend shifts approximately every other weekend
- 13-week assignment with potential for extension
- Dress code: black scrubs approved by the facility
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required Nov-April
