We are currently recruiting for a local company seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Clerk to support the financial and administrative operations of their restaurant and catering business. This role is office-based and works closely with ownership, management, and the external payroll service to ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, and smooth day-to-day office operations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Process accounts payable including vendor invoices, expense reports, and timely payment processing
  2. Maintain and reconcile the General Ledger (G/L) for multiple restaurant and catering locations
  3. Prepare, file, and reconcile Virginia sales tax reports for all applicable locations
  4. Review payroll data (hours, tips, adjustments) for external payroll service
  5. Perform regular bank, credit card, and POS reconciliations to ensure accuracy
  6. Assist with monthly and year-end financial close, including reports and supporting documentation
  7. Monitor and resolve discrepancies related to sales, tips, vendor charges, or payroll entries
  8. Maintain organized records in compliance with company policies and state regulations
  9. Answer and direct incoming phone calls, providing professional customer and vendor support
  10. Communicate with vendors, managers, and accountants regarding billing, payments, and account inquiries
  11. Support catering invoicing, deposits, and final payment tracking as needed
  12. Assist ownership and management with special projects, audits, and financial analysis as assigned

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in accounting or office administration, preferably in restaurants or hospitality
  • Familiarity with A/P, G/L, sales tax, and payroll entry
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple locations and deadlines
  • Proficiency with accounting software and POS systems
  • Professional phone etiquette and communication skill
