Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Location: Kodiak, Alaska
Duration: 13 Weeks

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional patient care in a rural acute care environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable caring for a diverse patient population, working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, and adapting to the unique needs of a critical access healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions as prescribed.
• Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to the healthcare team.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical patients.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation using the electronic medical record system.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
• Adhere to patient safety, infection prevention, and quality care standards.
• Float within scope of practice as needed to support patient care operations.

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience required.
• First-time travelers accepted.

Licensure

• Active Alaska RN License required at the time of submission.

Certifications

• BLS Certification required.
• ACLS Certification preferred.

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently in a rural healthcare environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Flexibility to adapt to varying patient care needs and assignments.
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
