Location: New York, NY 10029
Contract Duration: 13+ weeks (with possible extension)
Shift Options:

  • 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

  • 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
    Schedule: Monday – Friday

Position Overview

The Telemetry Monitor Technician is responsible for providing continuous and accurate cardiac monitoring for patients in an acute care setting. This role requires strong ECG interpretation skills, the ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening rhythm changes, and effective communication with the clinical care team to support patient safety and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform continuous ECG and telemetry monitoring

  • Analyze ECG strips and interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias

  • Identify abnormal or potentially life-threatening rhythm changes and notify clinical staff immediately

  • Initiate and assist during code situations, including accurate rhythm documentation

  • Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) with proper electrode placement in various care settings

  • Respond appropriately to all monitor alarms

  • Troubleshoot telemetry and monitoring equipment to ensure proper function

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with charge nurses, physicians, and healthcare team members

  • Enter and verify patient orders in electronic systems

  • Retrieve laboratory results and report findings to the charge nurse

  • Ensure documentation meets organizational standards and regulatory requirements

  • Safely operate and manage monitoring and medical equipment

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

Certifications Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

  • Completion of a Dysrhythmia Course
