Gove Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) is a well-established environmental consulting firm in Exeter, NH. We provide wetland delineations, soil mapping, permitting, and environmental planning services throughout New England. Our small, collaborative team supports a diverse mix of residential, commercial, and municipal projects.
GES is seeking an experienced Office & Finance Administrator to manage internal operations, bookkeeping, invoicing, and administrative support. This is a finance-forward role that requires strong QuickBooks experience and confidence handling small-business accounting tasks.
Applicants must have hands-on QuickBooks experience in a business environment.
General administrative experience alone will not meet the requirements for this position.
This is a salaried, on-site position (30 hours/week).
Finance & Bookkeeping
- Create and manage client invoices in QuickBooks
- Maintain chart of accounts and general ledger entries
- Track accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Enter employee timecards and credit card transactions
- Payroll and payroll taxes
- Prepare quarterly tax filings and 401(k) contributions
- Manage reimbursable expenses and vendor payments
- Generate monthly financial summaries for management
- Assist with insurance renewals (liability, health, dental, workers comp)
Office Administration
- Manage office supplies and vendor accounts
- Handle incoming/outgoing mail
- Prepare abutter notification letters for permit applications
- Update and organize contract and report templates
- Assist technical staff with formatting and compiling reports
- Maintain organized digital records and shared documentation
Digital / Light Marketing Support
- Update website content (staff bios, project pages)
- Schedule occasional social media posts
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of bookkeeping experience using QuickBooks Online in a business setting
(Personal or side-business use does not meet this requirement) - Experience with invoicing, A/R, A/P, general ledger activity, and payroll coordination
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
