Nurse Practitioner (Family Practice) – Bilingual (Spanish Required)
Location: Placerville, CA

Job Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $139,000 - $167,000 Annually (DOE)***

Job Summary:

The Advanced Practice Provider (Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) delivers comprehensive primary care services in a community health setting. Working under the general supervision of medical leadership and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary care team, this position provides prevention, education, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing, and referrals for patients across the lifespan. The role requires a strong commitment to timely, dignified, and patient‐centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Practice:

  • Provide full-scope primary care services for patients of all ages, consistent with applicable scope-of-practice laws and organizational protocols.
  • Conduct complete health histories, physical exams, diagnostic workups, and order/interpret labs and imaging.
  • Prescribe and manage treatments in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Obtain physician consultation for cases outside scope or when additional expertise is required.
  • Facilitate transfer of care when personal or religious beliefs limit ability to provide certain services.
  • Administer medications, immunizations, and perform procedures such as suturing.
  • Deliver verbal and written health education for patients and families.
  • Maintain productivity goals while upholding high standards of clinical quality.
  • Perform emergency assessments and interventions as needed.
  • Participate in developing and updating clinical protocols and standardized procedures.
  • Engage in quality improvement activities, including chart audits and implementation of recommendations.
  • Provide clinical consultation to team members during work hours.
  • Ensure thorough, timely documentation in the EMR system.
  • Complete billing in accordance with organizational timelines.
  • Attend continuing education programs and maintain required certifications.
  • Build strong relationships within the healthcare community.
  • Participate in required staff meetings and professional activities.

Community & Patient Engagement:

  • Contribute to efforts that enhance patient satisfaction and overall care experience.
  • Participate in at least two community outreach activities annually (e.g., health fairs, educational talks, media appearances).

Safety & Compliance:

  • Follow all safety, infection control, and ergonomic guidelines.
  • Maintain up‐to‐date knowledge of safety policies and report any concerns promptly.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge Of:

  • Current practices and standards in primary healthcare.
  • Diagnostics, treatments, and emerging clinical trends.
  • State scope‐of‐practice regulations.
  • Public and private insurance basics.
  • Community-based specialty and supportive resources.

Skills In:

  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • EMR proficiency (strong electronic documentation skills required).
  • Sound clinical judgment and decision‐making.
  • Spanish language (speaking and comprehension required).
  • Computer use for documentation, communication, and data entry.

Ability To:

  • Provide high‐quality, ethical, culturally responsive care.
  • Maintain professionalism and positive relationships with staff and patients.
  • Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to quality standards.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum one year of recent experience in a high‐volume outpatient primary care setting (experience from FNP or PA program may be included).
  • Experience in a community clinic or nonprofit environment preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred/required.

Education & Licensing:

For Nurse Practitioners:

  • Current RN license in the state.
  • Master of Science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner focus).
  • National FNP certification (or obtained within 12 months).
  • BLS certification.
  • Furnishing number & DEA certification.

For Physician Assistants:

  • Current state PA license.
  • Graduation from an ARC‐PA accredited PA program.
  • NCCPA certification (or obtained within 12 months).
  • BLS certification & DEA certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to transfer patients of any weight with assistance.
  • Use computers, phones, and standard office/clinical equipment.
  • Read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
