Job Title: Kitchen Prep Cook (Part-Time, On-Call)

Location: Ventura & Santa Barbara, CA

Pay Rate: $19–$20 hourly (depending on experience)


About the Role

We are seeking dependable, detail-oriented, and motivated individuals to join our team as Kitchen Prep Cooks. This role supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, maintaining organization, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for efficient food production. This is a part-time, event-based position working both in kitchen settings and at offsite catered events.

Kitchen Prep Cook Responsibilities

(include but are not limited to):

  • Follow daily prep lists to execute food preparation, including making sauces, cooking items, and prepping ingredients.
  • Measure and portion ingredients; wash produce; chop vegetables; and cut meat and poultry according to recipes.
  • Set up and organize workstations with all necessary ingredients and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas at all times.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards, including proper food handling and storage.
  • Monitor time and temperature controls and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and timely preparation.
  • Assist with offsite events, including cooking and plating appetizers, salads, entrées, and desserts.
  • Receive deliveries, organize storage areas, and restock supplies as needed.
  • Track inventory levels, rotate stock, and notify management when supplies are low.
  • Identify and report any safety hazards or concerns to management immediately.
  • Support chefs and team members with additional kitchen tasks as needed.

Certificates & Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance required.
  • Food Handlers Card required.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout shifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. individually and up to 60 lbs. with team assistance.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen and event environment.
