Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity is available for a skilled educator specializing in visual impairment to support students in an engaging school environment located in Lees Summit, MO. This position involves working directly with visually impaired students to develop individualized educational plans and provide tailored instructional support to foster student independence and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and develop individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
  • Provide direct instructional support and adapt curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to promote inclusive education practices
  • Train students in the use of assistive technology and specialized learning tools
  • Participate in professional development and maintain up-to-date knowledge of visual impairment teaching strategies
  • Travel as required to support multiple educational sites within the district

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a visually impaired teacher or in a related special education role
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with visually impaired students
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and instructional techniques specific to visual impairments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Willingness to relocate to Lees Summit, MO, and travel between school sites as needed
