Summary

Location: Craftsbury, Vermont Position Type: Part-Time 3 full days Start Date: Between June and August 2026

Craftsbury Saplings Community Children’s Center is seeking a creative, caring, and collaborative Teacher to co-lead our preschool classroom. We are looking for someone who recognizes early childhood as a critical foundation for lifelong growth, values respect and belonging, and brings joy, curiosity, and optimism to their work.
Rooted in child-centered, nature-based, and Montessori-inspired principles, the Craftsbury Saplings program serves children ages 15 months to 5 years in a setting that celebrates growth, connection, and time outdoors.

Position SummaryDuties include daily care and educational activities for up to 13 children ages 2.5 - 5 years. You'll have the support of co-teaching staff and our directors to lead a holistic and inspiring classroom. A strong candidate is excited about guiding children through outdoor learning experiences, including gardening and forest exploration, and aims to work collaboratively with our Montessori-inspired toddler classroom. This position has the opportunity to overlap one day with another highly experienced preschool teacher, also working 3 days a week.

Duties

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan implement curriculum in line with the Vermont Early Learning Standards
  • Maintain safe and inviting spaces that inspire creativity, self-confidence, cooperation with peers
  • Operate the classroom in compliance with state licensing standards program policies
  • Conduct on-going observations assessments through Teaching Strategies (support provided)
  • Participate in trainings and continued education, as necessary, to maintain and grow in your role
  • Oversee and coordinate with classroom support staff
  • Communicate with families about child growth, development, and ongoing needs



Requirements

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership in the classroom with young children
  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 21 credit hours in education-related coursework
  • An active teaching license with an endorsement in Early Childhood or Early Childhood Special Education or an interest in obtaining one
  • A commitment to play-based, nature-centered education and inclusive practices

Compensation

  • Pay: $22.00–$26.00/hour, based on experience and qualifications
