Role overview

The Senior Accountant plays a key leadership role within the accounting team, guiding project accountants and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial processes. This position manages select projects directly and serves as a backup for other project accountants when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support in the preparation of monthly and annual statements financials statements
  • Enforce financial system policies and procedures
  • Project accountant responsibilities: budgeting,cost tracking, progress billings, change orders, subcontractors and vendor payments, project cash flow, lien notice tracking and other project related financial responsibilities
  • Monthly bank reconciliation
  • Monthly sales tax reporting
  • Intercompany transactions
  • Other duties as required



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related degree or 5 years of relevant experience.



Preferred Requirements:

Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products required. Especially Excel.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong accounting skills and knowledge of Statutory accounting principles
  • Understanding of lien notices process.

Logistics
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Typical workdays and hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is an office position.

Travel
Very little overnight travel is anticipated for this position. Some occasional local day travel may be necessary.

Work is performed in an office setting and possible outdoor work is required in the inspection of various land use developments, construction sites or public works facilities. Hand-eye coordination and the ability to see well, naturally or with correction, is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and the ability of pulling and pushing objects up to 35 pounds is required on a job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continually required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear, and smell.
