Under the supervision of the school principal, the teacher will develop students’ knowledge and understanding of world cultures and cultural evolution. This includes building research skills in social orders and developing awareness of geographical, historical, cultural, and political factors that influence world societies, socio-economic systems, and political systems, as well as their inter-relationships and interdependence.

Experience

Prior successful classroom experience

A combination of education and experience
Other Requirements

Hold or obtain a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card with IVP level clearance
Essential Job Tasks

Plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students within the school curriculum

Use effective teaching techniques and materials aligned with curriculum goals and objectives

Create weekly written lesson plans describing daily learning experiences
-
Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents
-
Diagnose, instruct, and evaluate specific student needs and collaborate with district specialists as needed
-
Communicate objectives to students in a clear and organized manner
-
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student maturity and interests
-
Assist in implementing school policies and rules that support positive student behavior
-
Develop and apply classroom rules fairly and consistently
-
Provide educational experiences to support personal-social development, decision-making, self-image, and life skills
-
Promote and adhere to school district philosophy, policies, regulations, and administrative procedures
-
Communicate professionally with colleagues, students, parents, and the community
-
Assume legal responsibility for student supervision on school property or during school-sponsored activities

Maintain and improve professional competence

Fulfill individual responsibilities assigned by the principal or supervisor, such as committee work or supervision
-
Maintain accurate and compliant records as required by law, district policy, and regulations

Take reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Working Conditions

Work primarily occurs in a classroom setting

Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds
Education

Required: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education
Licenses & Certifications

Required: IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
-
Preferred: Elementary Certification (Grades 1–8)
