Job Title: Wiring Technician
*2nd & 3rd Shift Available Monday-Friday, $24+ per hour*
Job Description
The Wiring Technician assembles, wires, and installs electrical components in control panels, equipment, and production units according to schematics, wiring diagrams, and detailed work instructions. This role supports the production of high-quality chillers for data centers by ensuring that electrical control panels are built, wired, and tested accurately and safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and written work instructions to assemble electrical control panels and related equipment.
- Perform point-to-point wiring and install electrical components such as circuit breakers, relays, power supplies, and PLCs in panels and production units.
- Route, bundle, and secure wiring neatly to ensure proper function, ease of maintenance, and compliance with electrical and safety standards.
- Assemble and wire electrical panels and subassemblies according to engineering specifications and production requirements.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices to cut, strip, crimp, terminate, and secure wiring and components.
- Conduct quality checks and functional testing of panels prior to final installation to verify proper operation and adherence to specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve wiring or component issues, including identifying faults, correcting miswiring, and replacing defective parts as needed.
- Follow established electrical codes, wiring standards, and safety procedures while performing all wiring and assembly tasks.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy, organization, and workmanship.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and support continuous improvement in panel wiring processes.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of experience in panel wiring, electrical assembly, or a closely related field.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices such as tape measures for electrical and mechanical assembly work.
- Hands-on experience with electrical wiring, panel wiring, panel assembly, and electrical assembly in a manufacturing or production setting.
- Knowledge of electrical codes, wiring standards, and safety procedures applicable to panel wiring and electrical assembly.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision and efficiency while following detailed instructions.
- Capability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and stoop as needed in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and correct wiring and component issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with PLC wiring and troubleshooting preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of pressure testing procedures, leak detection methods, and chiller systems is a plus.
- Mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing or large plant environment.
- Familiarity with building and testing electrical control panels for industrial or data center applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while following production priorities and deadlines.

Work Environment
This role operates in a large plant environment that is not temperature controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons. Team members are expected to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds on a non-repetitive basis, and stoop as needed to perform wiring and assembly tasks. Work is performed in a fast-paced production setting using electrical and mechanical assembly tools, including hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices, while adhering to all safety procedures and plant guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.23 - $25.73/hr.
