Truss Designer
Reports To: Lead Truss Designer & Design Supervisor
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Truss Designer to support the Manufacturing Division by designing structural truss systems and assisting customers with project planning and design solutions. This role works closely with contractors, internal teams, and customers to develop accurate truss layouts, drawings, and material lists while supporting sales and profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Qualify customers and manufacturing division sales prospects.

Read and interpret blueprints to develop truss designs.

Create truss layouts, cut lists, shop drawings, and engineered drawings for approval.

Accurately measure spaces and make necessary design adjustments.

Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal teams.

Review designs with the Lead Designer or Design Supervisor to ensure appropriate pricing, volume, and profit margins.

Coordinate special orders with Purchasing and assist with project implementation.

Visit job sites or customer locations as needed to gather measurements or project details.

Use computer-assisted drafting software to produce design drawings.

Ensure all work complies with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Qualifications:

AAS Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology required; Architecture degree preferred (license not required).

2+ years of architectural or structural design experience preferred.

Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD.

Knowledge of building materials and residential construction systems, including foundations, framing, stairs, floors, roofs, and insulation.

Understanding of structural components such as beams, headers, and girders.

Familiarity with the International Residential Code (IRC) and ability to research code requirements.

Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Work Environment & Requirements:

Primarily a sedentary, office-based role using computer drafting software.

Occasional job site visits and brief periods of standing or walking may be required.

Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
-
Valid Class D driver's license with a clean driving record required.
