Position Overview The GIS & CAD Technician will assist the 432 Support Squadron Civil Engineer Flight to provide GIS and CAD services with minimal assistance associated with surveying work in support of the Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S). The GIS & CAD Technician will transpose/edit as-built CAD/image drawings to GIS datasets and update GIS data elements consistent with SDSFIE standards. CAD to GIS conversion will involve a variety of branches of engineering to include new building design, floor plans/structures, roadways/parking areas, land contours/drainage patterns, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and electrical systems, etc.
Essential Job Function
- May make site investigation and minimal survey work to verify and note details of existing conditions and requirements to ensure all features are reflected on completed drawings.
- Reconcile source data such as DD1354, RPAD, and other tabular data into the GIS system.
- Perform standard manipulations and adjustments to Image (such as PDF and TIFF), CAD and GIS files.
- Review tabular data and updates GIS layers as necessary.
- Demonstrate effective analytical, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate ability to be detail-oriented and thorough in reviewing data for accuracy.
- Communicate in a clear, timely, and professional manner.
Minimum Qualifications
- AS or BS degree in Geography, Cartography, or Geographic Information Systems
OR
- 4+ years of experience in applicable field.
- Secret Clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in using AutoCAD Map 3D/Civil 3D, ArcGIS 10.6.x, Trimble GNSS equipment and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access). Ability to read blueprints is a plus.
