About the Role:

The Automation Support role (3rd Shift) is critical in ensuring the seamless operation and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing systems within a dynamic production environment. This position focuses on providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, and maintenance support to automation equipment and software, thereby minimizing downtime and optimizing production efficiency. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to implement automation solutions that meet operational goals and compliance standards. They will also play a key role in identifying opportunities for automation enhancements and supporting the integration of new technologies. Ultimately, this role drives the reliability and effectiveness of manufacturing automation systems, contributing directly to the company's productivity and product quality.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience working with industrial automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA software.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and automation equipment used in a production environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure to resolve technical issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
  • Familiarity with robotics integration and motion control systems.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and industrial communication standards such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, or Profibus.
  • Certification in automation technologies or relevant industry standards (e.g., ISA Certified Automation Professional).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting for automated manufacturing equipment and control systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve automation-related issues promptly to minimize production interruptions.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and testing of automation hardware and software to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and commissioning of new automation systems and upgrades.
  • Document technical procedures, system configurations, and incident reports to maintain accurate records and support knowledge sharing.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing system performance data and recommending enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements related to automation equipment.

Skills:

In this role, the candidate will apply their technical skills daily to diagnose and resolve complex automation system issues, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing operations. Proficiency with PLC programming and HMI configuration enables the support of system modifications and upgrades that improve efficiency. Strong analytical skills are essential for interpreting system data and identifying root causes of equipment failures. Effective communication skills facilitate collaboration with engineering and production teams to implement solutions and document procedures clearly. Additionally, knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance ensures that all automation activities maintain a safe working environment.
