Job DescriptionInventory SpecialistPosition Summary

At Veterinary United, great medicine starts with great systems. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-driven Inventory Specialist to help ensure our veterinary teams have the right supplies, at the right time, in the right place—every day.

This role is critical to supporting inventory accuracy, product availability, and efficient supply flow across our growing network of veterinary practices. You’ll partner closely with clinic teams and leadership to maintain clean inventory data, coordinate ordering, monitor expiration and compliance, and help standardize processes across locations.

The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, comfortable working across multiple systems, and motivated by supporting clinicians so they can focus on what matters most: exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records across veterinary practice management systems (e.g., Cornerstone, Avimark) and pharmacy/ordering platforms

  • Perform routine cycle counts, stock audits, coupon audits, and reconciliation activities across multiple clinic locations

  • Support day-to-day ordering of medications, vaccines, medical supplies, and controlled substances in coordination with clinic managers and purchasing partners

  • Monitor product usage trends, minimum/maximum levels, and reorder points to ensure consistent availability while controlling costs

  • Track and manage expiration dates, usage rates, temperature-sensitive items, and proper storage of veterinary pharmaceuticals

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and assist with implementing corrective and preventive actions

  • Help standardize SKUs, product catalogs, and naming conventions across the organization to improve accuracy and efficiency

  • Prepare basic reports and summaries on inventory levels, costs, usage, and variances using Excel or other reporting tools

  • Collaborate with clinic teams to reduce waste, improve ordering accuracy, and support cost-effective inventory practices that align with our values

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Veterinary Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

  • 1–2 years of experience in inventory coordination, ideally within a healthcare, veterinary, or multi-location environment

  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and basic reporting formulas

  • Comfort working within veterinary-specific software and inventory/ordering systems

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills

  • High attention to detail with a consistent commitment to accuracy and accountability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with veterinary inventory workflows and ordering platforms (e.g., Covetrus, MWI, Patterson)

  • Familiarity with controlled substance tracking requirements and compliance standards

  • Experience supporting inventory across multiple veterinary or medical clinics

  • Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or other advanced reporting tools (a plus, not required)
