About the Role

Focused Staffing Group is seeking passionate and skilled Intervention Specialists / SPED Teachers to join our network of partner schools. In this role, you’ll help ensure every student has the tools, support, and individualized instruction they need to succeed.

For our Intervention Specialists, we provide a dedicated Compliance Team that supports IEP writing and compliance—allowing teachers to focus their time on planning, instruction, and student growth. Please note that IEP writing and compliance are the primary responsibilities of the Compliance Manager, not the Intervention Specialist.

Essential Functions

  • Support the school’s mission, philosophy, and values in interactions with students, parents/guardians, and coworkers.

  • Design and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction that reflects observations and individual goals for students.

  • Establish a classroom culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for all students.

  • Collaborate with faculty and leadership to analyze student data for continuous instructional improvement.

  • Share best practices and collaborate with peers to enhance teaching and assessment practices.

  • Maintain consistent communication with parents/guardians to discuss student progress.

  • Partner with Compliance Managers on IEP development and implementation.

  • Maintain an organized, safe, and engaging classroom environment.

  • Provide targeted small-group instruction and direct services aligned with students’ IEP goals.

  • Collaborate with grade-level and content teams to support differentiated instruction.

  • Participate in the student intervention referral team.

  • Support assessments and testing accommodations as a proctor and monitor.

  • Employ diverse instructional, management, and assessment strategies to meet the needs of exceptional learners.

  • Manage a caseload of students with IEPs, progress monitor goals and services, and adjust based on data.

  • Assist with non-instructional duties, including arrival/dismissal, hallway monitoring, lunch duty, and extracurricular supervision.

  • Maintain accurate and organized student records.

  • Engage in professional development and identity work to dismantle inequities and foster culturally responsive practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience preferred

  • Experience in urban or underserved settings strongly preferred

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Valid Ohio Special Education License or in the process of obtaining one

Skills and Attributes:

  • Deep passion for urban education and serving historically under-resourced communities

  • Proven ability to provide individualized instruction for students with special needs

  • Exceptional patience, focus, and problem-solving ability

  • Strong communication skills—both verbal and written

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Commitment to cultural responsiveness and ongoing professional growth

  • Data-driven approach to instruction

  • Receptive to feedback and eager to improve

  • Strong work ethic and dedication to going above and beyond for students
