Human Resource Generalist

Founded in 1973, DJ&A is a multidisciplinary professional services consulting firm with office locations in Montana, Colorado, Washington, New Mexico, Florida, and Nevada. Our team of more than 300 professionals works across the country to deliver a diverse range of engineering, environmental survey, mapping, landscape architecture, and planning projects for federal, state, local, tribal, and private clientele.

DJ&A is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented HR Generalist to support our growing company with offices in six states. This role is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional looking to apply broad human resources knowledge in a dynamic, mission-driven consulting environment. Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Generalist will serve as a key day-to-day HR resource for employees and managers, supporting core HR operations including employee relations, benefits administration, compensation, compliance, and HR initiatives related to company growth.

HR Duties

Employee Relations & Day-to-Day Support

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee HR questions, concerns, and requests
  • Assist in investigating employee issues and conflicts and help bring them to a resolution
  • Support employee performance evaluation processes and performance management programs
  • Assist with processing disability and workers' compensation claims and other HR-related matters
  • Take appropriate steps to address employee grievances in accordance with company policy

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefits, including researching IRS guidelines on benefits (HSA, FSA, Dual Coverage)
  • Support open enrollment processes and ongoing benefits inquiries
  • Keep DOL posters up-to-date across all office locations

Compensation & Records

  • Conduct salary surveys and support compensation benchmarking to help keep the organization's strategy current and competitive
  • Coordinate and process employee status changes, including promotions, transfers, title changes, and pay adjustments
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date physical and digital employee files, records, and HR documentation with strict confidentiality
  • Generate official internal documents such as appointment letters, status change letters, salary slips, and warning letters
  • Support offer letter preparation as needed in coordination with the Talent Acquisition Specialist

Compliance

  • Assist with ensuring the organization's compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including FAR
  • Monitor and research changes in federal, state, and local employment laws across all states where DJ&A has employees

Growth & Integration Support

  • Support onboarding and training programs for employees joining DJ&A through acquisitions or expansion into new markets
  • Assist in developing and delivering training materials that help employees understand company policies, procedures, and culture
  • Help maintain job descriptions in coordination with the Talent Acquisition Specialist to ensure they remain current and compliant
  • Assist with HR integration tasks as DJ&A continues to grow, including coordinating workflows across offices and states

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, labor relations, organizational development, business, or a related field; relevant work experience may be considered as a substitute
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or progress toward HR certification preferred
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $27.00–$36.00/hour, depending on experience
  • 15 days of PTO and 11 paid holidays to start for new employees
