Job Description

Join a dynamic team at a medical center, where you will play a vital role as a Phlebotomist. Your primary duty will involve collecting and storing specimens in accordance with established procedures. This includes performing venipuncture and other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal, while maintaining a courteous and clear communication with patients. You will be responsible for labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test orders, ensuring all procedures comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients as they arrive at the lab and explain the specimen collection process.
  • Perform blood draws using straight and butterfly needles, and demonstrate these techniques.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and package specimens for transport.
  • Store specimen samples according to required temperature and protocol.
  • Handle insurance, billing, and processing of samples.
  • Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients.

Essential Skills

  • 1+ year(s) of phlebotomy/venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven reliability and positive attendance.
  • Customer service experience in any setting.

Work Environment

This role is based at a medical center in Portland, OR. The initial contract duration is 3 months with a possibility of extension based on business needs and performance. This is a Contract position based out of Portland, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.05/hr.
