Job Description

This role supports the Power Services and Operations teams by leading the design, development, and implementation of electrical power systems across utility‑scale and industrial projects. You’ll be responsible for delivering safe, reliable, and efficient electrical designs—particularly in solar generation and advanced protection systems—that directly impact project performance and client satisfaction. Success in this role means producing high‑quality engineering work, guiding project execution from concept through commissioning, and upholding KE’s commitment to Safety, People, Passion, and Performance. If you take pride in doing things the right way and thrive in a fast‑moving environment, this position is built for you.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be part of a team that gets things done, collaborates across disciplines, and takes ownership of results. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities may include:

Electrical Design & Engineering (85%)

  • Lead electrical design for power systems, with emphasis on solar PV and advanced protection systems
  • Develop one‑line diagrams, layout plans, and interconnection strategies
  • Perform complex calculations, system analysis, and energy‑yield assessments
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NERC, FERC, and other applicable codes
  • Review project specifications, submittals, and engineering documentation
  • Support project planning, estimating, scheduling, and testing activities
  • Lead project meetings and technical presentations with clients and internal teams
  • Help develop and refine engineering processes, procedures, and best practices
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

Field Support & Commissioning (15%)

  • Lead and support testing, commissioning, and implementation of engineered designs
  • Assist with modifications, retrofits, and field‑based troubleshooting
  • Conduct site visits to ensure safe, accurate, and compliant execution

Qualifications

What You Bring

You’re someone who shows up ready to work hard, solve complex problems, and contribute to a team that takes pride in doing things right. Successful candidates typically bring:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical power systems, including at least 3 years in solar PV design
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA, etc.)
  • Proficiency with design and project management tools (Bluebeam, ACAD, Procore, Smartsheet, MS Project, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
