Job Overview

JL Dobbs Inc is seeking a skilled and experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of crane, rigging, and construction projects across New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, Northern Maryland, and New York. The Project Manager will provide leadership, direction, and oversight for all phases of construction projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor management, quality assurance, and safety compliance. This role is vital to ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of excellence.

Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Project Manager, you will:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all activities for assigned projects to ensure objectives are accomplished safely, on budget, and within schedule.
  • Develop, manage, and track project work plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Prepare and report on project costs, progress, and forecasts.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contracts for constructability and accuracy.
  • Coordinate allocation of shared resources, including personnel and equipment.
  • Maintain strong communication with owners, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Oversee and mentor Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Foremen.
  • Prepare lift plans and other required project documentation.
  • Respond promptly to project-related requests (RFIs, change orders, submittals, purchase orders, etc.).
  • Lead and document required project meetings, hearings, and safety briefings.
  • Enforce company safety policies, ensuring strict compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Perform site visits to monitor work progress, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Apply expert-level knowledge of heavy construction, equipment, and risk management to mitigate challenges.
  • Ensure that company standards of excellence and customer satisfaction are consistently achieved.

QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience in construction management or technical training accepted.
  • Minimum 5+ years of construction project management experience (crane, rigging, heavy equipment, or industrial construction background strongly preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relations.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with proven ability to manage teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with software tools, including Microsoft Office, Fleet Cost & Care, REVU/BlueBeam, and 3DLiftplan.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • PMP certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work on job sites with uneven terrain and in varying weather conditions.
  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and occasional climbing of stairs/ladders.
  • Comfortable working around heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and wear PPE (hard hat, vest, steel-toe boots, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel to job sites throughout the company's service area.

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend, Travel, and Overtime Potential

Work Location

  • In-person, based in New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, Northern Maryland, and New York, with travel to project sites as required.
