We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Assistant to ensure the safe and efficient handling of medications and supplies. You will be responsible for gathering medications, prioritizing deliveries, and maintaining the purity and quality of medications during transit. Your role will also involve restocking supplies, assisting with equipment processing, and maintaining a clean and safe warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Gather all necessary medications, supplies, and documentation for patient orders, ensuring accuracy and patient safety through an independent double-check process.
  • Prioritize, schedule, and collaborate with PSRs, Pharmacists, and Nurses to coordinate on-time deliveries and pickups in a fiscally-efficient manner using local and common courier processing systems.
  • Research shipping costs, delivery areas, and transit times to ensure timely arrival of patient orders. Update shipping and courier processing systems with new patient addresses and delivery instructions.
  • Pack patient orders in accordance with temperature-based guidelines to maintain the purity, quality, and stability of medications during transit.
  • Re-stock all supply items and IV fluid racks throughout the warehouse, identifying items by NDC or re-order number and appropriately rotating stock based on lot number and expiration date.
  • Assist Asset Tracker with receiving, cleaning, testing, and entering documentation of equipment processing into the tracking system returned from patient use, as per policy and procedure.
  • Ensure all equipment has the appropriate Preventative Maintenance date when testing equipment.
  • Assign appropriate equipment to patient orders in the tracking system to ensure accurate tracking and maintenance records.
  • Maintain warehouse/facility daily by sanitizing countertops, refrigerators, freezers, workstations, and other high-traffic areas; sweep/vacuum floors, empty trash/cardboard, and remove debris to maintain safety.
  • Assist in training new warehouse employees, demonstrating competency in main job duties, proper communication methods within interdisciplinary teams, assessing performance, and providing feedback to trainees.
  • Assist the Purchasing department with receiving stock, verifying items against packing lists for accuracy, and using the 'first in, first out' restocking method. Manage proper disposal and/or recycling of packaging materials.
  • Participate in monthly outdate checks and annual inventory, accurately completing paperwork and submitting to the Purchasing Specialist in a timely manner.
  • Participate in QA/QI through team huddles, RCAs for safety events, and process improvement projects.

Essential Skills

  • 0-2 years of experience as a pharmacy assistant or experience in a warehouse setting.
  • High School Diploma or GED (or higher).
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
  • Experience in shipping, receiving, packing, and handling medical and pharmacy supplies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Active Washington State Pharmacy Assistant License or ability to obtain licensure before hire.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform simple math effectively.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of medical supplies preferred.
  • Knowledge of body mechanics in lifting and moving boxes.
  • Organizational skills.

Work Environment

This role involves working in a warehouse environment where attention to detail and cleanliness is crucial. The position requires physical activity, including lifting and moving boxes, as well as collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. The work schedule may vary, requiring flexibility in hours to meet delivery and inventory demands.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane Valley, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
