Job Description

Do you want to do more than just enter numbers? Join a respected local CPA firm where you’ll truly partner with clients across exciting industries—Construction, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Law, Insurance, and major Marine Terminal Services/Warehousing accounts (clients range from $20MM to $100MM in annual revenue). Here, you’ll have the rare opportunity to gain a full picture of each client’s financial health, work directly with business owners, and develop relationships that go beyond the standard "busy season rush." Our client believes strong connections help everyone succeed—and their year-round, recurring client base means less stress and more predictability for your workload.

What Makes This Role Unique:

  • Diverse Client Portfolio: Work hands-on with companies shaping our region, from local builders and manufacturers to law firms, healthcare providers, and specialized marine/warehousing services.
  • Growth with Stability: Join a collaborative, people-first team with a company that values quality, relationships, and your career development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full-cycle bookkeeping: A/R, A/P, reconciliations, month-end close, and general ledger oversight.
  • Prepare financial statements and review with clients—helping them understand the numbers that drive their businesses.
  • Partner with clients and other accountants on payroll, tax prep, and year-end statements.
  • Find opportunities to streamline processes and support ongoing client success.

What You Bring:

  • Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience (public accounting a plus, but not required).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, CCH ProSystem, UltraTax.).
  • Dedication to accuracy—and to client service.

• Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a public accounting environment.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, and UltraTax.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and financial reconciliation processes.
• Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Ability to prepare basic financial statements, including trial balances, income statements, and balance sheets.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data organization and reporting.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in handling confidential financial information.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple client accounts effectively.
