Job DescriptionSalary: 20-29/hr

Job Summary

The Construction Carpenter will build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials as needed to assist with a variety of construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Performs selective demolition and salvage.
  • Erects and dismantles scaffolding and staging.
  • Measures, marks, and arranges materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
  • Cuts and shapes structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, cementitious products, drywall, and other trade materials.
  • Uses various hand and power tools to properly and securely complete tasks.
  • Joins materials with the most appropriate fasteners and adhesives.
  • Ensures the accuracy of work by checking with appropriate tools of the trade.
  • Install windows, doors, and hardware.
  • Installs millwork and casework.
  • Install exterior siding and trim.
  • Adheres to local building and safety codes and guidelines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
  • Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
  • Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.
  • Ability to work safely to OSHA and Company standards.
  • Works well as part of a team.
  • Ability to recognize the impact of work on occupied dwellings or neighbors to a project and plan work accordingly to minimize negative impacts.
  • Ability to maintain organized workspaces that maximize efficient use of time, manpower, and materials.
  • Ability to work in a clean and professional manner and maintain a high level of quality control in workmanship.
  • Ability to work with other trades to coordinate seamless installation.
  • Familiar with basic wood and material knowledge to understand and choose the appropriate and proper quality of materials.
  • Ability to communicate professionally about tasks to problem solve or develop resolutions to installation concerns.


Education and Experience

  • Successful completion of vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program; OR at least three years of experience via on-the-job training required.
  • Must have OSHA 10 Hr (30 Hr preferred).

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
  • Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Must have drivers license and own transportation.
