Job Description: The FT Post-Master's Counseling Externship is a one year, 10 month position for a pre-licensed counselor to gain clinical experience while receiving clinical supervision towards licensure by a licensed staff member. There is a possibility for renewal for a second year. Work schedule will be mid-August to mid-June each year.
Location: Glenside
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a full-time caseload
- Participate in weekly individual and group supervision
- Provide culturally-sensitive individual and group counseling, crisis assessment and intervention, and participate in daily drop-in hours.
- Provide professional consultation to University stakeholders (faculty, staff, etc.)
- Participate in Counseling Services wellness outreach, trainings, and workshops/presentations
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Attend staff meetings and particpate in Campus Life events/committees
- The Counseling Extern will receive two hours of clinical supervision a week as part of their compensation towards licensure requirements for Pennsylvania State Licensure
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a Master's Degree in a counseling (social work, counseling psychology) related field and completion of all of the educational requirements for PA state licensure.
- 1-2 years counseling experience
- Preferred experience in Counseling Center within a higher education setting
- Experience using Electronic Medical Record System
