• To assist the classroom staff in non-teaching (non-instructional) duties such as managing materials and equipment, general housekeeping, attending to the physical needs of the children, supervising students and performing other services which are determined and supervised by the teacher.
• Assist with the arrival and departure of children to and from the buses.
• Set up equipment and materials necessary for lessons planned by the teacher or teaching assistant.
• Properly store all equipment and materials after use.
• Keep the classroom, including all instructional equipment, neat, clean, and in good order.
• Set up snack and lunch areas for the children, and to ensure that these areas are properly cleaned after meals.
• Assist individual children who have difficulty or who are unable to feed or toilet themselves under the direction of, and supervised by, the teacher and/or teacher assistant.
• Assist in dressing and undressing children who have difficulty with this task.
• Escort children to and from.
• Assist in moving and/or lifting children when necessary.
• Participate in all in-service training programs.
• Maintain a safe, positive classroom environment consistent with Elmcor’s Rising Scholar internal policy and protocol
• Provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive care, including Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and individualized support services
• Collaborate with Skills Trainers, Teachers, Clinicians, family worker, and other staff in order to ensure quality care that is tailored to each child’s individual needs
• Provide support to Teachers and Skill Trainers to create and conduct lesson plans when needed
• Responsible for uploading educational progress reports for each child in care, along with other documentation
