SI Utility is seeking a qualified Quality Control Inspector to support quality assurance, code compliance, and safe work practices in the manufacturing of utility poles and related products. The ideal candidate will have experience in welding inspection, identifying defects, and ensuring all materials and finished products meet company, customer, and regulatory requirements.

This role works closely with foremen, supervisors, production teams, and administrative staff to maintain quality standards and support continuous improvement initiatives. Strong written and verbal communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are required. Bilingual Spanish skills are preferred, but not required.

Qualifications:


  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) required
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certification required
  • Ability to perform Ultrasonic Testing (UT) required
  • Strong knowledge of welding codes, inspection procedures, and quality standards
  • Ability to identify weld defects, product weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement
  • Experience in structural steel or utility pole fabrication preferred
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities:


  • Perform inspections to ensure the quality of materials, weldments, and components is maintained throughout production
  • Verify products comply with applicable quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct inspections of raw materials, in-process fabrication, and finished products
  • Identify weld defects and support corrective actions and process improvements
  • Assist in maintaining and supporting QA/QC programs that meet project and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain and document inspections and findings on travelers, inspection reports, and quality control records
  • Update and ensure compliance with material control documentation, procedures, and company policies
  • Work closely with Production Supervisors, Safety Manager, and QC personnel on documentation, data entry, and administrative support as assigned
  • Support implementation and continuance of safe work practices throughout the facility
