Position Title: PDU Cables Lead
Division: PDU Cables EPCO All Divisions
Location: MN Iowa Remote or Other
Shift: am pm N/A (5:00 a.m. start time)
Reports To: Production Supervisor or Operations Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for assigning work direction and for training area personnel to meet production standards and customer expectations related to the quality of product and completion dates. This is a working lead position responsible for completing work on the line, which includes assembling power cables in accordance with established standard operating procedures, quality & safety regulations, and company metrics and goals. Requires the ability to work well independently and with a team of production assemblers in various work cells. Must have previous experience using hand and power tools properly. Proper assembly of all parts of the power distribution units is required to ensure that safety and quality standards are met and that electrical hazards, such as explosions, fires, and arcs, are avoided for the end user. Regular and consistent attendance is a key requirement of this position. Shift start time 5:00 a.m.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The working lead is responsible for the following duties:
- Cable assembly, assigning daily work duties to staff, and ensuring orders are completed according to quality standards, specifications, and due dates. (Working Lead Position)
- Assisting with the supervision of production staff as needed when the supervisor is not present.
- Updating production schedule as required or directed.
- Training new and existing employees on efficient production assembly techniques.
- Communicating and enforcing company policies and procedures with the team.
- Working with the supervisor to maintain expected labor costs by monitoring staffing, hours worked, and overtime.
- Verifying that orders entered by sales are accurate, and following up with any necessary corrections or clarifications to ensure customer needs are met.
- Maintaining tools and equipment.
- Test cables as needed.
- Maintaining department safety standards.
- Participating in establishing process and quality improvements in the PDU production area.
- Coordinating and motivating employees individually and as a team to meet department and company goals.
- Assisting with special projects from other production cells or departments (e.g., warehouse, quality, engineering, or operations).
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
- Minimum of one (1) year of previous experience working in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of the company’s enterprise resource management system.
- Ability to understand, communicate, and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with co-workers and management.
- Ability to follow as well as provide effective written and verbal job instructions.
- Must be able to properly differentiate and identify a wide range of colors used in the power cables/wire/conduit.
- Solid comprehension and experience with proper and safe use of automatic equipment and hand tools.
- Ability to assemble cable orders using established guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to identify bottlenecks in the production flow and work with the team to clear them quickly and effectively. This includes the Lead performing the physical work with the production staff.
- Able to effectively use basic computer software systems for cable testing, email, and ERP system data entry.
- Ability to perform basic mathematics involved in work orders.
- Ability to communicate department staffing, tooling, and material needs both verbally and in writing to the supervisor or manager.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for acting as a working lead, supervising the daily assignment of work tasks to PDU Cables production employees, and ensuring employees are compliant with company policies and procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 1-75 lbs. (intermittent basis). All heavy lifting requires following a process that involves using a mechanical assist, adhering to team lifting standard procedures, and complying with all safety requirements.
- Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, and turn consistently throughout the day.
- Must have dexterity and strength in both hands to lift/push/pull, grasp, hold, and squeeze power tools and component parts consistently for 6-8 hours throughout the day.
- Must be able to stand consistently for 6-8 hours throughout the day.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment as a team and independently.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of one (1) year of previous experience working in a production assembly/manufacturing environment.
- Six (6) months of experience in a lead position or a position requiring the delegation of duties and work assignments.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
All positions require the ability to work well with multiple departments and individuals in various roles, and to work independently to complete the essential functions.

Work Schedule: Standard work hours begin at 5:00 AM, Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required on weekends or beyond the regular 8-hour workday, depending on business needs.
