Job Title: RN – ECMO Program Coordinator
Location: Atlantis, Florida
Position Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Position Overview

A leading acute care hospital in Atlantis, Florida is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – ECMO Program Coordinator to lead and oversee the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) program. This advanced clinical and leadership role is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the ECMO program, ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff education, and program development.

The ECMO Program Coordinator will collaborate closely with intensivists, cardiothoracic surgeons, perfusionists, respiratory therapists, and nursing leadership to maintain clinical excellence and optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee daily operations of the ECMO program.

  • Serve as clinical expert and resource for ECMO management and best practices.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain ECMO policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe initiation, maintenance, and weaning of ECMO support.

  • Provide education, training, and competency validation for ECMO specialists and ICU staff.

  • Monitor program quality metrics, outcomes, and compliance with ELSO guidelines (if applicable).

  • Participate in case reviews, morbidity and mortality meetings, and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Assist in patient and family education regarding ECMO therapy.

  • Maintain readiness for emergent ECMO activations as required.

  • Support data collection, reporting, and accreditation processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida (or compact state).

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of Critical Care (ICU) experience.

  • Direct ECMO management experience required.

  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

  • Strong knowledge of hemodynamics, ventilator management, and critical care protocols.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or related field.

  • CCRN certification.

  • Experience with ECMO program development or coordination.

  • Familiarity with ELSO registry reporting and standards.
