Job DescriptionOverview of the Role: Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
The leader of the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service is responsible for guiding clinical, administrative, educational, and research efforts to enhance care for veterans across various facilities. This position involves overseeing a diverse team, ensuring the delivery of top-notch rehabilitation programs, and fostering professional growth and research that aligns with the needs of veterans. Candidates must be Board-Certified Physiatrists with relevant academic credentials and leadership experience in a healthcare environment.
Are you a Board-Certified Physiatrist eager to take on a leadership role that emphasizes innovation and veteran care? Our organization is looking for an enthusiastic Chief of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service (PM&RS) to lead and transform our extensive rehabilitation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
As the primary management figure for PM&RS, you will oversee all clinical, administrative, educational, and research functions within the service. You will report directly to the Chief of Staff and lead a committed team of PM&RS physicians, therapists, ancillary healthcare providers, and administrative personnel.
Specific duties include:
- Leadership & Supervision: Mentor and supervise PM&RS team members, fostering a collaborative and efficient work atmosphere.
- Program Management: Design, implement, coordinate, and assess a comprehensive physical medicine rehabilitation program across various locations, including VA medical centers, outpatient clinics, and contract facilities in Middle Tennessee and North Georgia.
- Clinical Excellence: Deliver direct patient care and consultations to support primary care, acute medicine, surgery, psychiatry, nursing home units, rehabilitation clinics, hospice, and more.
- Educational Leadership: Ensure robust educational initiatives for VA staff, facilitating professional development and compliance with VA training requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Uphold high standards of healthcare delivery, adhering to community, state, and federal regulations, including VHA, JCAHO, and CARF standards.
- Research Facilitation: Promote and support research initiatives in rehabilitation services and technologies, ensuring they meet veteran needs and securing necessary funding.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication and collaboration with the Chief of Staff, GRECC Director, academic partners, and other essential stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Board-Certified Physiatrist
- Academic qualifications appropriate for appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level at affiliated medical institutions
- Strong connections with the Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) and the Geriatric Fellowship Director
