Overview:
Under the direct supervision of the Safety Manager, the First Aid, CPR & AED Instructor is responsible
for delivering training courses which correspond to the Medic First Aid curriculum for First Aid,
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate how to administer first aid, perform CPR, and properly use the AED in accordance with Medic First Aid program requirements.
  • Develop student competency, teach proper technique, correct improper technique, and facilitate a learning environment to provide each student with an opportunity to achieve certification.
  • Supervise and evaluate participants' mastery of course skills.
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork and evaluations.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain First Aid, CPR and AED instructor certification.
• Clean and maintain functionality of training equipment.
• Report inventory in need of restock or replacement to Safety Manager.
• Record and communicate any difficult situations or behaviors to the Safety Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of pertinent safety precautions.
• Ability to multitask, organize, and maintain attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and
handle a variety of different tasks at the same time.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of basic computer software including Microsoft platform.

Education and Experience:

• Possession of First Aid, CPR, and AED certification with possession of, or the ability to
obtain, First Aid, CPR, and AED instructor certification within one (1) month of hire.

Special Considerations:

• Must be at least 17 years old by the completion of training.
• Subject to modified/flexible work schedules including weekend and evening hours.
• Ability to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing ≤ 25 lbs on a weekly basis. Lifting assistance is required when lifting > 25 lbs.
• Ability to travel to and work at all Naperville Park District facilities.
• Prolonged walking, kneeling, reaching, crouching, and stooping.
• Ability to demonstrate first aid techniques, CPR, and AED use with a manikin.
• Regular onsite attendance is an essential function of this position.

Must be able to attend instructor certification class in April.

Full Salary Range: $27.00/hr-$37.00/hr
