PRC Baker Places is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the San Francisco community through legal advocacy, workforce development, financial services, and residential treatment programs. We support formerly homeless adults living with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders by providing a continuum of integrated direct care services. All of our programs are grounded in a social rehabilitation philosophy that integrates harm reduction and daily living skills within a safe and supportive environment.

Position Overview

The Senior Major Gifts Officer serves as a senior member of the PRC leadership team. This experienced fundraising professional is responsible for the Development function, securing major, principal, and planned gifts that advance the strategic priorities of the organization. The role manages a focused portfolio of foundation, corporate, and individual donors and prospects; develops and executes strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans; leads a fundraising events manager and is primarily responsible in meeting annual philanthropic revenue goals. Working collaboratively with the CEO, Executive Team, and the Board of Directors, Senior Major Gift Officer builds strong relationships, works with our Communications colleagues to develop compelling cases for support, and ensures exceptional donor engagement that inspires meaningful philanthropic investment. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker and exceptional writer with a proven record of success in securing significant philanthropic support for nonprofit organizations. This individual will manage a dynamic portfolio of complex projects and ensure alignment with PRC’s goals and standards.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

· Serve as a strategic lead in developing and implementing foundation philanthropy strategies that align with member organization priorities. Secure a minimum of $1,000,000 in year one.

· Manage a portfolio of major, principal, and planned gift prospects, guiding donors through all stages of the development cycle.

· Develop and execute individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that lead to significant philanthropic commitments from individuals, foundations and corporations.

· Prepare effective proposals and work with Marketing and Communications to develop donor materials aligned with institutional priorities.

· Conduct regular donor meetings, site visits, and strategic touchpoints to strengthen relationships and advance giving opportunities.

· Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Board’s Development and Communications Committee, partnering with committee members to advance PRC’s fundraising and visibility strategies, activate board networks for donor cultivation, and strengthen philanthropic revenue through coordinated development and communications initiatives.

· Partner with PRC leadership and Board members to identify philanthropic priorities and create strong cases for support.

· Develop effective strategies to meet annual KPI and fundraising goals.

· Partner with the Hayes Group through bi-weekly strategic planning sessions to identify and pursue new funding opportunities, strengthen relationships with prospective and lapsed funders, and expand PRC’s foundation and institutional giving pipeline to support sustained philanthropic revenue growth.

· Provide strategic leadership and performance oversight to the Events Manager, ensuring PRC fundraising events operate as high-impact revenue platforms that drive major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and donor pipeline growth

· Redesign, relaunch, and scale 2–3 annual signature fundraising events that serve as cornerstone revenue drivers for PRC, generating significant philanthropic support through major donor cultivation, corporate partnerships, sponsorship packages, and multi-year funding commitments while elevating PRC’s visibility and influence across the Bay Area philanthropic community.

· Leverage events as a strategic donor pipeline engine, converting event attendees and sponsors into qualified major gift prospects through structured cultivation pathways, executive engagement

opportunities, and targeted follow-up strategies designed to secure transformational and multi-year philanthropic investments.

· Provide customized stewardship to donors, ensuring timely follow-up, recognition, and impact reporting.

· Maintain accurate, timely documentation of donor strategies, contact reports, proposals, and gift activity in the fundraising database

· Represent philanthropy at PRC and community events to strengthen visibility and donor engagement.

· Institutionalize a Quarterly PRC Corporate Activation Series for corporate employee engagement, converting employee engagement into corporate renewals, leadership cultivation meetings, matching gift campaigns, and multi-year funding commitments.

· Ensure 100% Board annual participation in giving.

· Prepare briefing materials for CEO and others for donor meetings.

· Maintain CRM integrity, forecasting accuracy, and monthly reporting.


Minimum Qualifications

· Candidates MUST reside in the Bay Area to be eligible for this Hybrid/Remote position.

· 10+ years of progressive experience in major gifts, corporate partnerships, or institutional fundraising.

· Demonstrated track record of securing $1M+ annually in philanthropic revenue.

· Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, behavioral health, housing, or social services organizations.

· Bachelor’s Degree Required, and preferred in the following fields: Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Healthcare Administration, or related discipline.

· Preferred Certification: CFRE (Certified Fund-Raising Executive), CAP (Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy), or Certificate in Corporate Social Responsibility
