Job DescriptionStep into a day where uptime depends on your craft

Working with minimal oversight, you will be the expert called when production equipment needs to be rebuilt, aligned, or brought back to peak performance. From precision machining of parts to complex troubleshooting, you keep plant manufacturing systems running safely and efficiently. Along the way, you mentor apprentices, support supplemental or contract labor, and collaborate with peers to raise the bar for reliability.

What your day may look like

  • Start with planned maintenance tasks to prevent failures and extend asset life.
  • Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues using drawings, schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Fabricate or repair parts by setting up and operating precision machines.
  • Install, align, and adjust equipment and components, ensuring everything runs true.
  • Execute safe rigging and heavy moves to position machinery.
  • Perform welding tasks (TIG, MIG, ARC and more) and related metalwork as needed.
  • Access elevated work areas using approved lifts and equipment.
  • Coach apprentices and work alongside contractors and fellow mechanics to transfer knowledge.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain compliance with OSHA and MIOSHA standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives across the plant.

What you bring

  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude and analytical troubleshooting skills.
  • Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, precision instruments, and machine tools.
  • Knowledge of rigging, lifting, and safe material handling.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Capability in welding and metal fabrication.
  • Physical ability to perform the job, including heavy lifting and work at heights.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and MIOSHA safety practices.

Credentials

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a four-year U.S. Department of Labor approved apprenticeship.
  • Machine Repair Journeyman Card or Maintenance Mechanic Journeyman Card.
