JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Construction Inspector at Ditesco, you will help ensure the quality of water, wastewater, utility, and heavy civil construction projects across the Northern Front Range region.
- Inspect construction work related to water utilities, roadways, fiber, development projects and enforce project specifications, contract documents, and governing standards.
- Verify and ensure material and equipment received is compliant with approval submittals and shop drawings prior to incorporation into the work.
- Assist the Construction Manager in execution of quality control and quality assurance programs.
- Maintain a daily log of construction and inspection activities and prepare and review progress reports for owner and stakeholder communication.
- Preparation and review of construction documentation such as; daily logs, punch lists, and non-conformance reports.
- Document and prepare draft as-built drawings and reports to assist in review of contractor required record drawings.
- Coordinate work items, schedules, and communication as needed amongst contractors, utility companies, governmental agencies, third party testing firms, and others as needed.
- Field measure completed work for unit price or other contract payment terms, maintain project quantity logs when required. Verify field layout, line, and grade of work completed in place.
- Interpret design drawings and specifications and work with the Construction Manager and contractors to resolve field conflicts.
- Assist with field issue resolution and other field and office duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree in construction management or engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Interest and desire to obtain a Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) designation progressing to a Certified Construction Manager.
- 2 years of experience in construction management or inspection, with an emphasis on infrastructure and/or transportation projects.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate design and construction changes between owner, engineer, and contractor.
- Experience in use of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of construction materials and ability to identify substandard materials and practices.
- Knowledge and ability to recognize deviations from required project standards.
- Ability to recognize and communicate unsafe conditions in the field. Ability to follow required safety standards.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and translate plan dimensions into field dimensions.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, clients, and the public.
- Experience with PDF markup software and related tools.
- Experience or certifications pertaining to CDOT, ACI, and AASHTO/ASTM standards.
- Experience with potable water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, stormwater infrastructure and roadway construction.
- Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.
