Department: Business - Operations

Reports to: Talent Manager, Director of Talent & HR

Location: Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School – Washington, DC

Schedule: Part-Time | Unpaid Internship | Public Transit Assistance Provided

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to support our dynamic Talent & HR Team. This role offers hands-on experience in the administrative operations of a school, including recruitment, talent management, HR compliance, benefits, and policy development. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals pursuing a career in human resources, talent development, or education administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the recruitment process by posting jobs, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes for new and departing employees
  • Help maintain and update employee records and documentation
  • Contribute to drafting and editing HR policies, handbooks, and internal communications
  • Assist in coordinating employee engagement initiatives and trainings
  • Participate in benefits administration tasks, including tracking enrollments and open enrollment prep
  • Help support compliance efforts by organizing files and assisting with audits
  • Attend HR team meetings and contribute to strategic talent initiatives
  • Conduct research to support HR best practices and recommend improvements

Qualifications:

  • Interest in Human Resources, Education Administration, or Organizational Development
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • Attention to detail and a proactive mindset
  • Proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university program
  • Fluency in mandarin (Preferred)

Compensation & Support:

  • This is an unpaid internship position
  • $80/month public transit stipend provided
  • Flexible hours (10–20 hours/week) based on intern's availability
