The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for the accurate handling and management of patient medical records to ensure they are organized, complete, and accessible to authorized personnel. This role supports healthcare providers by maintaining the integrity of file storage systems and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain patient medical records and files
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations
- Retrieve records promptly for medical staff upon request
- Update records with new information from patient visits and treatments
- Verify completeness and accuracy of medical documentation
- Assist with the scanning and digitization of paper records
- Handle record requests from patients or authorized parties
- Support audits and quality assurance processes related to medical documentation
