Job Title: Lab Assistant
Location: Indianapolis, IN 46250
Duration: 06-month contract (Possibility of extension or conversion)
Shift: Monday-Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
Pay Rate: $17– 20/hour (W2) (Based on experience and education)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to support daily laboratory operations. This role involves performing routine lab tasks with accuracy and efficiency to assist laboratory staff and ensure smooth workflow and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort and receive specimens in the department
- Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment
- Centrifuge specimens and manage specimen storage and retrieval
- Print labels and record data (e.g., temperature logs)
- Prepare reagents and laboratory media
- Prepare specimens for testing, including:
- Building worklists
- Aliquoting specimens into sample cups
- Checking for clots and fibrin
- Slide preparation and inoculation
- Perform QA/QC duties as assigned
- Resolve pending specimen lists and locate missing samples
- Maintain a clean work environment and decontaminate work areas
- Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests
- Maintain department records and documentation
- Change gas cylinders as needed
- Follow PPE requirements and all safety protocols
- Operate laboratory systems and basic computer applications
- Dispose of biohazardous materials properly
- Complete required training and competency checklists
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Medical Assistant training (Preferred)
- Coursework in Math and Science (Preferred)
Experience:
- No prior experience required

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Ability to retain and apply learned procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Additional Requirements:
- Must follow all safety and compliance regulations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment
