The School District of Brown Deer is seeking a dynamic and skilled Technical Education Teacher to join our high school instructional team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive district committed to student success, strong career pathways, and hands-on, real-world learning experiences.

Position Overview

The Technology Education Teacher position will provide instruction in Safety, woodworking construction and Metals. Students will gain skills, knowledge, and work habits needed for postsecondary education, apprenticeships, and direct entry into the skilled trades workforce.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in building construction, woodworking which may include carpentry, concrete, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and related areas. Metals: areas may include Forging, Welding, Machining, Sheet meals and related areas.
  • Deliver instruction using approved curriculum and a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs, interests, learning styles, and ability levels.
  • Emphasize hands-on learning, safety, and industry-aligned practices that reflect current and future workforce expectations.
  • Support students in developing technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and employability skills that make them competitive in the workforce.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and administrators in the planning, development, and revision of curriculum as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison with state agencies, administrators, industry partners, and community organizations related to the CTE program.
  • Maintain and manage instructional supplies, tools, and equipment, including inventory, proper use, supervision, and basic preventative maintenance.
  • Comply with all CTE Certificate of Completion and Student Competency List requirements.

Qualifications

  • Preferred - Valid Wisconsin Technology Education licensure (1220), which generally includes a Bachelor’s degree or years of working experience in the above fields.
  • Experience in residential and/or commercial construction is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to create engaging, inclusive learning environments that support student growth and achievement.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Non-Traditional / Evidence-Based Licensure Pathway Qualifications

  • Significant industry experience in construction, metals-welding, sheet metal and machining.
  • Eligibility for or interest in pursuing Wisconsin CTE evidence-based licensure.
  • Strong communication skills and interest in working with high school students.
  • Willingness to learn instructional strategies and collaborate with colleagues.
