Microbiology Laboratory Technician About the Role

The client’s company is seeking a Microbiology Laboratory Technician to perform microbiological testing on pharmaceutical products, raw materials, and medical devices. You’ll work in a BioSafety Level-2 (BSL-2) laboratory under GLP conditions supporting both research and quality control activities.

Microbiology Laboratory Technician Key Responsibilities

Perform USP, ASTM, ISO, and CLSI-based microbiological tests (sterility, bioburden, microbial limits, time-kill, MIC/MBC).
Maintain microbiological cultures and record colony-forming unit (CFU) data.
Document results per Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP).
Support equipment qualification, calibration, and validation projects.
Follow established safety procedures within a BSL-2 environment.

Microbiology Laboratory Technician Qualifications

Microbiology Laboratory Technician Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or Chemistry.
1+ year experience in microbiology or related lab work (pharma, medical device, or personal care).
Hands-on experience in a BSL-2 lab.
Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize work independently.

Microbiology Laboratory Technician Preferred:

GxP laboratory experience.
Familiarity with LIMS software.
Experience supporting OOS, OOT, or deviation investigations.

Microbiology Laboratory Technician Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Stand or sit at a lab bench for long periods.
Work in a biological safety cabinet.
Lift up to 25 lbs.
Wear PPE appropriate for a BSL-2 lab.
Handle biohazardous and chemical materials safely.
