Position Overview
A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support leadership within the Internal Medicine Surgery department. This role is responsible for overseeing clinical operations, supporting nursing staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving high-quality patient care outcomes. The ADON will play a key leadership role in staff development, operational efficiency, and maintaining excellence in patient care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Nursing in daily clinical and administrative operations
- Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff within the unit
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state regulations, and accreditation standards
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, and performance management
- Drive quality improvement initiatives and patient safety standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care delivery
- Participate in staff education, training, and competency evaluations
- Assist in policy development and continuous process improvement
- Monitor clinical outcomes and ensure adherence to evidence-based practices
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – New York State
- Education & Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing + 5 years of experience (including 3 years in leadership/teaching)
OR - Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing + 6 years of experience (including 4 years in leadership/teaching)
- Master’s Degree in Nursing + 5 years of experience (including 3 years in leadership/teaching)
- Prior leadership experience in a hospital or acute care setting
- Strong knowledge of Internal Medicine and/or Surgical nursing practices
