Summary

The CAD Technician utilizes Solidworks to create and modify models and drawings using information provided through architectural drawings, engineering calculation sets and project manager direction. Drawings encompass a variety of architectural projects in different phases of the drawing process. The various phases of the process are: 1) Preliminary Drawings, 2) Shop Drawings and 3) Fabrication Drawings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Interpret architectural and structural drawings to understand customer’s design intent and attachment conditions.

2. Attend meetings with sales department and/or project managers to understand project scope during project hand off, including preparation of all take-off preliminary drawings to thoroughly communicate design intent through drawings.

3. Create initial engineering drawings that are sent to structural engineers based on preliminary drawings and customer feedback.

4. Accurately apply revisions to models and drawings to ensure all updates are properly reflected.

5. Create fabrication drawings for internal production and external production needs. Drawings must reflect all required details for fabrication.

6. Work with Project Managers and Field Managers to capture and accurately draw all field dimensions for fabrication drawings. These meetings can take place in person, via MS Teams, or through other communication methods.

7. Apply revision tracking to drawings for proper tracing.

8. Properly manage time to meet the needs of other internal and external stakeholders.

9. Anticipate and work to mitigate any scheduling issues for drawing completion by coordinating with the CAD Manager, project managers, and other departments to manage expectations and communicate proactively.

10. Review and problem solve design issues, utilizing Endurable co-workers’ expertise as appropriate, to create solutions for the customer while protecting Endurable’s interests.

11. Always conduct yourself in a professional and respectful manner with all Endurable internal and external customers.

12. Perform other duties as required and respond to requests in a timely manner as requested.

Education and/or Experience

Associate’s degree in architectural technology, engineering, administration, or 2-3 years equivalent CAD experience using Solidworks. Experience in the architectural field or construction trades is also desirable.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, customer drawings, engineering drawings, and internal drawings. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with other employees and on occasion with customers.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be able to read and interpret measurements on drawings.

Other Qualifications

Proficient in Solidworks, including a solid background working with assembly and weldment components. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple drawing projects simultaneously. Strong attention to detail, and ability to see the overall process from a high level. Excellent organizational skills and knowledge with various computer programs and other technology for tracking and maintaining project documentation. Extensive experience with Microsoft Office. Experience with Blubeam Revu is a plus.
